NC ECHO Workshops To Go!

What is Workshops To Go? No workshops in your area? No workshops covering what you need to learn? Workshops To Go is a program designed to meet your needs! Just like ordering a pizza to be delivered, NC ECHO has established a program that allows host institutions to "order up" workshops that will fit your needs! If you don't see the workshop that you need, please contact NC ECHO.

How does the Workshops To Go Program work? You decide you need/want to have a workshop on a particular NC ECHO-related topic. NC ECHO will provide the curriculum and the teacher for you in return for you providing the workshop location and classroom or computer lab in which the workshop will be taught. You agree that your workplace will be the "host institution" and that you know of sufficient interest in your community for this workshop so that approximately ten participants can be easily found. Workshops To Go can be one or two days long depending on the subject of the workshop. Registration fees will be $10 per person for a 1-day workshop and $20 per person for a 2-day workshop.

How can I be a host institution? If you are interested in hosting a workshop, NC ECHO will work with you to assure that logistical considerations have been handled, and host institutions will send two participants to the workshop for free! Workshops require different accommodations. Those requirements are listed with workshops descriptions. If you have any questions regarding hosting a workshops, please contact NC ECHO.

    Current workshop offerings:

  • Introduction to Metadata (1 day)

This workshop explores the underlying principles of metadata, including a review of different types of metadata, an introduction to various metadata schemes, and an in-depth look at the NCDC Dublin Core Implementation Guidelines as a minimum standard for NC ECHO. The NC ECHO Dublin Core template as well as other resources available for metadata creation provided by NC ECHO will be discussed.

Open to all: maximum capacity 30 participants.

Host institution requirements: Meeting or classroom to accommodate 40 people.
