Preservation metadata is structured information about the creation and life-cycle of your digital objects. Maintaining consistent and complete preservation metadata assists in the sustainability and longevity of the digital objects under your charge. The PMDO Content Guidelines and Digital Images Administrative and Preservation Metadata tool are offered to assist institutions in these efforts.

PMDO Content Standard
This content standard includes required, recommended, and option fields to assist in maintaining appropriate and comprehensive metadata about digital objects. Preservation metadata forms the first important step in ensuring longevity for digital objects. This standard is intended to provide content guidance for those currently using collection management systems or as a companion for the NC ECHO Preservation Metadata for Digital Objects Access tool.
